How is it taken?
As a once-weekly injection under the skin, self-administered at home. Your provider and pharmacy give step-by-step instructions before your first dose.
What are the common side effects?
The most common are nausea (usually early), constipation or diarrhea, fatigue, headache, and injection-site irritation. This is not a complete list. Your provider reviews the full safety information with you and you should tell them about all conditions and medications.
Who should not take a GLP-1?
GLP-1 medications are not appropriate for people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2, a history of pancreatitis, type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis, or those who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning pregnancy. Your provider will screen for these.
